Huehca Omeyocan is a music and dance group dedicated to promoting cultural practices of the Pre-Hispanic (Aztec) Mesoamerican peoples. As part of a ceremony to honor our oceans and beaches, they performed in Netarts at Cape Lookout on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS, OSU Tillamook County Extension, Juntos Afuera Program, Oregon State Parks, Portland Audubon, and the Pacific Northwest Aquatic Marine Educators also provided activities and educational booths throughout the day.
The Omeyocan Dance Company celebrates Mexico’s cultural history and shares it through performances featuring authentic costumes, music, and choreography. They aim to entertain and educate audiences of all ages and cultures as well as to enrich audiences and dancers alike. You can learn more about the program here.
Oregon State University documented the program as did several other attendees, but if you weren’t able to attend we have a short video of highlights from the 4 hour event. Enjoy!
