August 1st is a rather magical day for the Super Full Moon in Aquarius shines its light at 11:31 am. It is the Pagan holiday of Lammas where the first grain harvests are celebrated by making bread and breaking it with your tribe. This is a holiday to revel in the harvests of this time of year and the life it brings us.
It is also half way to autumn equinox. This is truly a celebration of the bright Leo Sun and the nourishment it brings to our Earth. In astrology, true Lammas isn’t until August 7th when the Sun is at 15 degrees Leo, but most celebrate this delicious and jovial festival on August 1st.
This Super Full Moon is also the first of two Full Moons in August, which is powerful and enchanting! We have another Super Full Moon on August 30th in Pisces which is our Blue Moon. Since both of these Moons are Super Moons, they are closer to Earth and you will feel their intense pull as the tides will. Super Moons in the same month directs a strong pull to let go, purify and walk away from what is no longer nourishing you.
With this Moon in Aquarius, which is a very cerebral sign, we might find ourselves overthinking things and thoughts swirling around like whirlpools in our minds. Recognize that they are just thoughts and you don’t have to believe anything you don’t want to! Taking time to be in nature, (go look at the Moon!) doing hands on projects (like baking bread) and spending some time meditating will help immensely.
There might also be some thoughts popping up that need attending to. Old thoughts that really need an update might get center stage during this Super Moon. Perhaps write them down then see how you can create a new thought that is way more interesting and rewarding than the old, bedraggled thought that is overused. Make sure and make it a believable one or it won’t work. Then practice that new thought daily.
Most importantly, during this Super Moon, celebrate summer and all the fruits of the season in a pleasurable way. Leo is known for its playful prowess and Aquarius for its creative ideas, so do something spontaneous and pack up a picnic or something and go have fun! Store up a memory of these sunny times to retrieve on a dark and stormy day this winter. And of course, eat some bread and juicy ripe tomatoes.
