New Moon in Leo yawns and stretches (and maybe preens a bit) on August 4th at 4:14 am. This New Moon has no hard aspects to it so it is giving us a collective moment to sit in the Sun and enjoy it a bit.
Mercury goes retrograde on the 6th and is stationing a few days before that, so you might be frustrated and hitting walls when you try to go fast, but if you slow down and get cat like, you’ll enjoy this lunation.
Leo is ruled by our glorious Sun and therefore the Leo job is to shine like it. The only job a Leo really has to do is show up. Now that is easier said than done as showing up means really loving yourself 100% for who you are, no matter what. No easy task!
Leo’s intent is to discover greater self-confidence through love so that you may shine that upon others. You and your circle will grow and glow within your light. The trick to this is deepening your connection with Spirit so that you realize that you are not your mortal coil but perfect pure energy like the Sun.
Leos are put on this Earth to lead the rest of us towards finding the light within ourselves.
Leos are well known for being playful and light hearted but a lesser known attribute is that they know how to chillax. Just like a big kitty, they can kick back and soak in some summer sunshine and just let the world be. This is a Moon for that.
When is the last time you honestly gave yourself permission to do NOTHING! I mean absolutely nothing? And if you did, were you plagued by guilty thoughts? This next 2 week cycle till the Full Moon in Pisces, I invite you to allow at least 10 minutes a day of “do nothing”.
I first read this practice in Martha Beck’s book “The Joy Diet” and was appalled by it. But I was determined to try it and I found it to be incredibly nourishing and life changing. I have started that practice again and am really sinking back into it. (BTW Great book to read right now!)
This is amplified by Mercury stationing in Virgo on the same day then going retrograde on the 6th of August. This Mercury retrograde is asking us to step back from the work wheel and find what makes us feel alive. What makes you happy? Do more of that.
We know not what the future holds, we cannot change our past, but we certainly can enjoy the moment in the last true month of summer. Slow down, preen and do it without guilt.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go find a sunbeam.
