On January 17, 2024 residents of Wheeler received notice of a water issue, primarily south Wheeler, from Hall Street south and above 2nd Street.
Public Works identified a faulty water main on Hall and 3rd Street that caused the Jarvis Water Reservoir to fully drain. This affects the upper zone of the water distribution system, including 3rd Street and most of the properties uphill from there.
Repairs were made to this area and as the reservoir was refilling, it then began to drain again, and it was determined that there was another water main break. Public Works crews located the second break and made repairs. This morning, Saturday January 20th Jarvis Reservoir is nearly up to full operation level. Once it reaches full level, portions of the system are flushed, and then chlorine residuals are taken.
A Nixle alert through county emergency management was sent out to the impacted households that the boil water notice was lifted Saturday afternoon.
