Based on a unanimous vote by the Infrastructure Finance Authority Board on October 4, 2024, the City of Bay City has been awarded $3,853,653 of funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Safe Drinking Water Revolving Loan program. This funding will be used to replace approximately 8,000 linear feet of transmission lines and construct an additional drinking water reservoir. Just over $2 million of this funding will be in the form of a forgivable loan, while the remaining balance will be in the form of a 30-year loan.
The Bay City Regional Water System provides over 300 million gallons of clean, quality drinking water each year to not only the residents of Bay City, but also four neighboring water districts and the Tillamook County Creamery Association. This funding will help ensure the resilience and sustainability of this water system, which is important for our residents and businesses.
“We are excited to get to work on this important project, which will serve our residents, businesses, and neighbors for the upcoming decades,” said Liane Welch, Mayor of Bay City. “We are grateful to our congressional leaders who helped pass this important legislation, which translates into tangible benefits for our local communities. This funding will help us continue to provide quality drinking water, while maintaining pricing within a reasonable rate structure. Business Oregon has been a valuable partner in this project, and we look forward to our continued collaboration on this and other projects in the future.”
