The City of Bay City is accepting applications to fill vacancies on multiple committees as follows:
• Three (3) vacancies on the Budget Committee
The Budget Committee is composed of all members of the City Council and an equal number of citizens. Establishing the budget is an essential function and made more effective through a collaborative process. The Budget Committee meets to review, discuss, consider additions or deletions to, and approve the proposed budget presented by the budget officer. The Budget Committee meets a limited number of times during the year, primarily in early May.
• Two (2) vacancies on the Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is the City’s land use review body, overseeing such things as plan reviews, conditional use permits, variances, and zoning issues. The Planning Commission generally meets on the third Wednesday of every month. Of the two vacancies, one of the positions may be filled by a citizen residing in the Urban Growth Boundary of Bay City (outside city limits).
• Two (2) vacancies on the TLT Committee
The TLT Committee reviews tourism-related grant applications and advises the City Council on proposed policies for the use of the City’s Transient Lodging Tax (TLT) funds and other matters involving tourism or tourism-related facilities. The TLT Committee meets 1-2 times each quarter.
Applications are available on the City’s website under https://www.ci.bay-city.or.us/forms and should be submitted by February 7, 2024. Applications may be submitted to City Hall in person or sent via email to the City Manager at dmccall@ci.bay-city.or.us.
These positions are appointed by the City Council. There is no financial compensation for serving in these positions, but ample opportunity to serve.
In accordance with the City Charter, qualified applicants must be residents in the City before being appointed to the office.
