EDITOR’S NOTE: There have been multiple social media posts about area bathrooms being locked or closed with lots of speculation on why, with a variety of explanations from people with little or no knowledge of the actual reasons. In some places, it is because the municipality doesn’t have the staff to clean and maintain the bathrooms, so bringing in port-a-potties is one solution. Vandalism is a serious problem as well. The City of Tillamook recently provided this update about a recent project at Coatsville Park.
Unfortunately, the City must frequently close park bathrooms due to reoccurring vandalism and unauthorized use. As staffing allows, we have been trying to keep up with the cleaning, painting, sanitizing, and maintenance required to keep these bathrooms open. Last week, our Street Division crew in our Public Works Department gave the bathrooms at Coatsville Park on 9th Street a much-needed makeover. See the photos below for before, during, and after photos of the bathrooms. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to open the rest of the bathrooms.
We’d like to remind the public that we are hiring in our Public Works Department.
