Let’s talk about how to show more love for our communities. February is “heart health” month, Valentine’s day – the month of love. We can all use a little more love every day, so North Tillamook County the Community Conversation is coming to you. Join us at Rising Hearts Studio in downtown Nehalem (35840 7th St. – Hwy. 101) hosted by the Tillamook County Pioneer and North County group HUGGS – Helping Us Give & Get Support. HUGGS was formed in 2022 as several community members lost loved ones to suicide and overdose, HUGGS has a simple mission – to help our community “Find ways to heal together.” We want to hear from you – How can be show more love for our community and it’s members? What do we need to do to feel safe? How can we support our community? We’ll talk about community needs to support EVERYONE. Resources will be available for suicide prevention, overdose awareness/Narcan training, and more.
Community Conversations have been held quarterly at Tillamook Bay Community College with a focus on various aspects of community safety, such as hate and bias crimes, neighborhood watch programs, overdose awareness and trainings, emergency preparedness and more.
Community Conversations feature a brief overview of the sponsorship organization and then an open forum in a safe environment to talk about community needs. In a short period of time HUGGS and Rising Hearts Studios have made dozens of connections and established a north county crisis response group, held numerous trainings and outreach events – monthly teen night, community art and game nights, community music jam sessions, plastics recycling programs, and much more.
Please join us to share your ideas for ways that HUGGS can help love our community on Tuesday February 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Rising Hearts in downtown Nehalem.
