Netarts, OR – On Sunday, January 12, at approximately 3:40 PM on Whiskey Creek Rd at about mile 3.4, a 2 door 1995 Jeep Wrangler was traveling south at approximately 40 – 45 MPH, when according to the initial investigation, the vehicle, occupied and operated by the sole occupant, Jarrod W. Christensen (41) of Cloverdale, swerved into the northbound lane, corrected and went off the south bound shoulder into a ditch, where the vehicle traveled for approximately 150 feet before going over the embankment and down a ravine where it struck a tree and rolled coming to rest on its roof approximately 50 feet off the roadway.
Jarrod Christensen was pronounced deceased on the scene. Next of kin have been notified. A dog, possibly a husky, was also in the vehicle and was last seen running from the scene in the area and has not been located.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time, it appears alcohol, failure to wear a seatbelt, and the weather may have been contributing factors in this collision. Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by Netarts Oceanside Fire, Adventist Health Ambulance, Oregon State Police Reconstruction Unit, and Tillamook 911.
