Emily Cordo is a passionate advocate for equity and justice. Her career began in civil legal aid, culminating in her serving as the Legal Director of the Sexual Violence Legal Services program in Seattle, where she stewarded the organization through several challenging transitions. After leaving her legal practice Emily reconnected with her roots, running a small family farm in Indiana. Upon returning to Oregon Emily joined Food Roots’ Board of Directors, where she served as Board Secretary, in order to build connections with the coastal community and its local food systems.
Emily’s new position as the Food Roots Interim Executive Director is an exciting opportunity to meld her experience in managing nonprofit transitions, her commitment to public service, and her belief that everyone in the community should have access to affordable, nourishing, locally grown food.
Emily’s first day as Interim Executive Director was June 1st. She will serve for a 1-year term, supporting Food Roots’ Board of Directors in conducting a comprehensive organizational assessment, engaging in strategic planning, and utilizing a thoughtful and deliberate process for hiring and onboarding the organization’s next long-term Executive Director.
For the next year, in addition to supporting the Board in these activities, Emily will be focused on maintaining Food Roots’ operations, programming, and funding in accordance with its current high level of organizational performance, ensuring that Food Roots’ stakeholders and the Tillamook County community at large experience no interruption of services.
