BEN NUÑEZ SR. SCHOLARSHIP 2024, sponsored by Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS, now in its third year.
WEBS is committed to supporting students who want to make a positive impact on our natural resources.
Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS (WEBS) works to build a community of environmental stewards around Netarts Bay watershed and the areas between Cape Meares and Cape Lookout. We use educational events, programs and activities, as well as informed scientifically based documents, to enhance knowledge of the important and unique qualities of the Netarts Bay Area. “WEBS is committed to supporting local students who care about our natural resources and are looking to start a career in science and conservation”, says WEBS Executive Director Chrissy Smith.
The scholarship is named after long-time board member, Ben Nuñez, Sr. who passed away in 2022. Nuñez served as the Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS treasurer for many years and continued to be a strong ambassador for the non-profit upon resigning from the board. Ben’s legacy lives on through his generosity and we are delighted to award in his name, multiple scholarships.
The Friends of Netarts Bay WEBS Ben Nunez, Sr. Scholarship opportunity is now accepting applications. WEBS is offering up to three scholarships to graduating high school seniors or Tillamook County residents interested in pursuing a career in oceanography, marine conservation, estuary health, watershed ecology, or a closely related field. Awards are made at the discretion of the WEBS board. This scholarship opportunity is open to any resident or graduate of Tillamook County schools and will be allocated via the Tillamook Education Foundation.
The application deadline for the 2024 Ben Nuñez, Sr. Scholarship is 4 pm on March 15, 2024.
