Wheeler, OR – In a collaborative effort to raise awareness and take tangible steps toward conservation of the Nehalem River Estuary, four regional organizations call on you to participate in a Nehalem Estuary journey, which includes education, action and art.
Join the feature event on March 9th, the 13th Biennial Estuary Cleanup. This celebrated community event showcases the collaborative spirit and commitment to the environment, enhancing both our quality of life and our local economy. 2024 marks the 13th biennial (every-other-year) Nehalem Estuary Cleanup, Saturday, March 9 from 7 am to 2 pm. Join this celebrated community event that has been taking place biennially since 1999! Volunteers from near and far unite to remove trash from the Nehalem Estuary and then celebrate at the ‘Sorting Pit’ with food and drink and friends. In 2022 volunteers pulled over 2 tons of trash and hundreds of pounds of recyclables from the Estuary, including half a canoe, two refrigerators, a yoga mat, and an entire boat! Be part of the solution and join in the fun!
Many local organizations are joining in, like COAAST Network (Communities of All Abilities Succeeding Together) Estuary Clean Up team – it takes a community to cleanup an estuary that connects us all.
For more info and to register, visit the event page.
Then, drop into creative mode with local and visiting artists, as we turn estuary trash into art masterpieces. The resulting artworks will be showcased at the News and Espresso gallery in Manzanita throughout April and for the Trash Bash Art Festival in May. Rally your friends and family, and register for these events TODAY! Together, let’s commit to the preservation of this vital ecosystem.
