The Garibaldi Grade School Great Kindness Challenge was embraced by the community. There were many participants, including Port of Garibaldi members as well as the Bay City fire fighters and the Coast Guard. “The Garibaldi students made message of kindness that we delivered to the middle school, where they were handed out to teachers and students,” explained Garibaldi Grade School counselor Cherie Hasenoehrl. “I had a student helping me to hand them out and by the time we got done, he was smiling and asked if we had anymore to hand out because it made him feel so good to make people smile. The staff members that got them said it really made their day and they hung them up in their classrooms,” she continued. “It’s so nice to help people smile.”
