Well, I am happy to report that going into week 7 after my Cancer Surgery, things continue to get better. Best of all, I am now Cancer FREE. Again, men, get that annual exam that should include checking your PSA, especially if you are, or are near your 60s.
Now, a quick weather forecast as it is a busy camping holiday weekend for many. First, if things and/or people are acting a little strange, well then, I should mention that we are in a full moon cycle that started yesterday, known as the Corn Moon, or Corn Planting Moon. Another name given to this last Full Moon of Spring is the Milking Moon (because nearly 3000 years ago they realized they could get three milkings in a day) and the Flower Moon. The next full moon isn’t until June 20th, which happens to also be my anniversary, and the first day of Summer!
So, what about the weather this Memorial Day weekend? Today, we see a trough of low pressure moving in that will bring rain to the coast starting this morning, then some scattered showers this evening, high temperatures in the mid 50s. Inland, like down my way, there is a chance of showers starting this afternoon with the highs in the low to mid 60s. The coast is looking at scattered showers tonight while inland the rain band make some rain likely until later tonight when it transitions back to a chance of scattered showers. Low temperatures across the area are in the mid 40s.
There is a slight chance of scattered showers across the region tomorrow morning, Saturday, otherwise a mostly cloudy to partly sunny day expected with high temperatures at the coast in the mid 50s while inland the temperature makes it into the low 60s. With a ridge of high pressure moving in, we can expect mostly cloudy skies tomorrow night, lows near 43 along the coast, but partly cloudy and 41 inland.
Sunday is looking partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low 60s at the coast, up to near 70 here in the central valley area, then more of the same on Memorial Day, highs at the coast up in the mid 60s, but up into the mid 70s here in the valley.
The chance of rain with slightly cooler temperatures return starting Tuesday.
Lastly, Monday is Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, coming from the early tradition of putting flowers, flags, and wreaths on graves of service members who died in the service of our country. It is NOT a day to wish someone Happy Memorial Day, but instead a day to remember the fallen soldiers who are no longer with us. The day to say “thank you” to our service members is Veterans Day, which is on November 11th this year. What I will say is, I hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend with family and friends and enjoy the time off.
