Well, another cold morning all over the Pacific Northwest today. It looks like Tillamook got down to near 27 degrees this morning, the coldest over the weekend was 25 on Saturday night. It appears the coast also saw around 0.25” of icing Saturday night also, down towards Lincoln City saw 0.95” and the valley saw anywhere from 0.05 to 0.75” of icing. As far as snow went, that was isolated to the Coast Range and a few isolated spots over in the valley. Unfortunately, the temperatures have not climbed above freezing to help melt any of this off since the Arctic Airmass sent them below 32 degrees early Saturday morning.
A little bit of good news today for the Tillamook area, with just a few high clouds blowing across leaving mostly sunny skies, the high will actually make it to above freezing, to about 38 degrees. It will still be breezy though with those easterly winds 10-15 gusting to 20 so the windchill will make it feel like it’s below freezing. Now unfortunately the temperatures will fall below freezing again a few hours after sunset so icing on the roads will again be a factor until later tomorrow morning when some warm rain moves in. So, look for some mostly clear skies tonight, still those breezy east winds, and the low drops to near 24 degrees, so the windchill will still make it feel like the teens.
Tuesday, we see another system approaching that pushes rain back over the area later tomorrow morning, hopefully after the temperatures are above freezing so all we see is rain. You can expect the Coast Range passes will still be seeing rain and freezing rain once again as the snow level is above 3000’ but the surface temperature in the mountains are at or below freezing. The winds tomorrow still easterly 5-10, high temperatures in Tillamook make it up to near 43. The warm system continues to push warmer air inland tomorrow night so continued rainy with the winds now southerly 14-18 gusting to 25, the low only dropping to near 42. Rainfall totals for the day around 1 to 1 ½”, the temperature across the top of the Coast Range will be slower to climb above freezing, only making it to around 34 in the early morning hours so icing could still be an issue later into the night.
After being so cold for so long, Wednesday will feel quite warm. As far as the weather goes, by Wednesday it looks like we have a low pressure area just off the coast that will be giving us more rain and windy conditions with the winds southwesterly 15-20 gusting to near 35, the high near 52. We transition to showers Wednesday night, still a little breezy, lows near 43.
Thursday, we start out with some more showers then we see yet another front pushing in more rain and winds by the afternoon, but no freezing temperatures, the high still up near 52, then cloudy, rainy, and breezy Thursday night, lows only drop to near 44.
Friday on through the weekend we continue to see cloudy, rainy, and breezy conditions with highs around 54 and the lows near 45.
