Finally, it looks like this Arctic Blast is winding down with the only icing concerns being over the Coast Range summits, eastward through the Portland area, and into the Hood River/Gorge area. The temperatures this morning in Tillamook were in the mid 40s while the temperature over the summit was still 27 degrees and they were reporting freezing rain and black ice. It is still expected that the warmer air will continue to modify the colder air bringing warmer temperatures that will push across the summit, yielding temperatures above freezing and possibly into the mid 40s in the afternoon. Temperatures across the summit may still get down close to freezing tonight so patchy black ice may again be an issue.
It looks like we will continue with the moist, and warmer, southwesterly flow today so we can expect more mainly light rain, with the winds becoming westerly 15-20 gusting to 30, the high will climb up to a more comfortable 51 degrees this afternoon. The rain eases some more tonight, just in time for the next system to bring in the next round of rain after midnight, the winds will die off, and the low temperature falls to near 37.
Tomorrow looks cloudy and rainy, the winds increasing to easterly 5-10, and the temperatures remain in the upper 30s, rising little if at all in the afternoon. The rain eases again tomorrow night before midnight, winds easterly 4-8, the lows drop to around freezing or 32 degrees.
Friday on through the weekend is highlighted by a trough of low pressure that will continue to give us a moist southwesterly flow that has disturbances embedded in the flow that gives us increased rain with breezy conditions as they move through. The high temperatures remain in the lows 50s while the lows continue in the low to mid 40s.
Monday and Tuesday continue to look cloudy and rainy also with highs in the mid 50s, lows in the mid 40s.
