warm, muggy night with the low only making it down to near 57. The low pressure area I talked about yesterday is now west of Washington with the associated trough and warm front pushing into the area this morning, giving us some light rain and breezy winds. The low will continue to drift northward today then stall west of northern Washington. The good news for us is that, though the associated cold front will take its time pushing through, the bulk of the heavy rain is isolated to central and northern California. We can expect the rain to continue here today with the winds increasing with the front, becoming southeasterly 14-18 gusting to 25, the afternoon high up in the upper 50s.
So, it looks like the front will push through around sunset, then we just see some patchy light rain tonight, the winds easing, becoming southeasterly 8-12, overnight low temperatures near 48. Rainfall totals for the today through midnight likely from ¼ to ½” here and maybe ¾” in the Coast Range.
The low starts to drift back to the south, staying off the coast tomorrow as it slowly weakens so more rain is likely, the winds again breezy from the south 14-18 gusting to 25, the afternoon high tomorrow near 54. More rain is likely tomorrow night, the winds ease a little, becoming southerly 8-12 gusting to 18, the low near 43.
The low is still meandering off the coast Friday which will swing in a colder trough of low pressure that will cool things down some. We can expect showers, still the southerly winds 8-12 as we are on the east side of the low, the high only near 52. We keep about a 50/50 shot at showers Friday night under mostly cloudy skies, the low drops to near 39, and the snow level also drops to near 2600’
The chance of showers eases by Saturday evening as the low drops down further south to near northern California, and with partly sunny skies, we still make it up to near 52 again. Only a slight chance of a light showers Saturday night that further diminishes after midnight, lows near 37, the snow level down near 2500’.
Sunday is looking like a mostly sunny, dry day, the high near 53 but then the low starts to drift northward again so we have a slight chance of showers again Sunday night, becoming breezy again also, the low near 40.
As for next week, it is likely that the low pressure area will drift northward off the coast Monday and Tuesday bringing another chance of showers, with highs near 51, lows near 39.
