With the ridge of high pressure continuing to build just off the coast, we are seeing clear skies over Washington, Oregon and California, other than some patchy dense fog this morning, we saw sunny skies today with the highs climbing into the mid and upper 70s. The stratus will push in some tonight, but the winds will become easterly 5-10 after midnight, lows tonight only down to near 58.
The ridge will be drifting eastward tomorrow, moving over the area, and is now expected to build even stronger, and will also give us some easterly winds 5-10. All this will likely push the afternoon high temperature up into the low 80s across the area. Expect clear skies tomorrow night with the east winds still 5-10 still, lows near 55.
By Saturday the ridge has shifted east of the area, but we still enjoy mostly sunny skies, the winds now westerly 4-8, highs near 75. With the onshore flow returning we see the marine layer returning and thickening, so we likely see some patchy drizzle Saturday night, lows near 51.
We see partly sunny skies Sunday along with a slight chance of drizzle still, the high only near 68, then we see an approaching trough and a strong front that will bring us a chance of rain Sunday night, lows near 52.
It appears we will have the front move in Monday as another weak atmospheric river sets up and brings rain with breezy conditions through Monday night, highs near 62, lows near 50. The models suggest the area is looking at somewhere between 1 and 2” of rain from Monday through Tuesday (with a slight chance of over 2”) when the front finally pushes through and we see the rain transition over to scattered showers that persist into Wednesday, highs near 61, lows near 47.
