Today a low pressure area moved across the coast that gave us, and continues to give us, another shot of mainly light rain and rainshowers. Because of the instability, there is a slight chance we could see a thunderstorm, especially over the coastal waters. The activity does become more scattered tonight as the disturbance continues inland. Winds tonight ease, becoming westerly 5-10, and with the low dropping to near 38 tonight, the snow level falls to near 2600’ which means the higher Coast Range mountains could see accumulating snow.
With a weak ridge over the area tomorrow morning, the shower activity becomes more isolated so only a 50/50 chance of showers tomorrow, the winds westerly 4-8, highs near 50. Look for mostly cloudy skies tomorrow night, still a few showers around, winds becoming southeasterly 5-10, lows near 37, the snow level down near 2500’.
The next system appears to have slowed down so the rain from this one likely waits until early Saturday morning to move in. This will again bring us periods of heavy rain and increase the winds to southeasterly 10-15 gusting to 25, the high near 52. The rain, still heavy at times, continues Saturday night, the winds increasing to southwesterly 20-25 with gusts to 40, gusts along the beaches possibly up to 45-55, the lows warming to near 42. This system will likely bring around 1” to 3” of rain to the coast and Coast Range which will increase the flow rates in the rivers again, but they are not expected to significantly rise over the weekend or cause any river flooding again. During periods of heavy rain, you could one again see Urban and Small Stream Flooding though.
Sunday, we see a rainy day, just not as heavy as Saturday, the highs near 55, then we transition to showers Sunday night with mostly cloudy skies, lows near 41.
Hold on to your hats folks, it’s starting to look like we could dry out some next week. It appears a weak ridge of high pressure starts to build in Monday so we see a decreasing chance of showers by Monday evening as the ridge builds, the high back up near 53, then only a slight chance of any remaining showers that night, lows near 38.
We see mostly sunny skies Tuesday with only a slight chance of any remaining showers, the high near 54, mostly cloudy skies Tuesday night, lows near 39. After that we will likely see another set of approaching systems that will increase the clouds and bring in chances of rain and rainshowers midweek on. So much for the dryer and warmer El Nino forecast, at least for December!
