Well, today we had a low pressure area dropping southward from our northwest that gave us lots of higher clouds today. Thanks to a strong jet stream, a front developed off the low and as the system further develops tonight, the associated warm front moves northeastward across our area, giving us rainy, breezy conditions. The winds easterly 10-15 gusting to 25, lows tonight near 39. A little good news though, the snow level was 2400’ and will continue to lift tonight, up to near 3100’.
The low continues to drop southward tomorrow but still gives us rainy and breezy conditions that also pulls the snow level back down to near 2400’, the winds easterly 10-15 gusting to 25, highs near 51. The rain eases overnight tomorrow under mostly cloudy skies, winds easterly 5-10, lows near 36.
By Wednesday the low pressure area is nearing northern California and we catch a break from the rain and winds, the high up to near 57, the low down around 37.
Thursday afternoon we see a weak trough just off the coast that gives us a slight chance of showers. With the high only up to near 50, the snow level drops to around 2200’. With the onshore flow the coast sees a slightly better chance of showers Thursday night, lows near 38, the snow level around 2000’.
Under a southwesterly flow Friday, we see cloudy skies with scattered showers moving in along with some breezy conditions again, associated with the first in the next chain of fronts to affect the area, highs near 50. The winds pick up Friday night with the front itself, lows near 38, the snow level around 2400’.
It looks like we see another front moving across Saturday so in comes some more showers and breezy conditions, the snow level still up around 2100’ so all the snow will be isolated to the higher Coast Range mountains and the Cascade Passes this time. Still rainy and breezy Saturday night, lows near 36, the snow level drops down around 1600’ so some snow is possible up at the Hwy 6/26 summits but likely to melt off fairly quickly.
Sunday, more showers, the high only makes it to near 47, the snow level drops to near 1900’, then scattered showers still Sunday night, lows near 35 and there is another slight chance of snow up in the summit.
The long range forecast suggest the wet and cold hangs on into next week…
