The ridge of high pressure flattened today as a trough of low pressure moved across and into British Columbia. The system pushed high clouds over the region, but the ridge is continuing to rebound this evening and will help further dry things out as it also warms us more. Look for partly cloudy skies tonight, the winds diminish, the low drops to near 43.
Tomorrow looks to be another mostly sunny day though there could be some patchy morning fog, winds becoming westerly 5-10, the high near 68. Tomorrow night we see mostly clear skies with northerly winds 5-10, the low only falls to near 53.
Friday continues to look like it will be the warmest day in quite some time as the ridge likely peaks, so with sunny skies and the dry easterly winds 8-12, the high tops off at around 81. Expect partly cloudy skies Friday night, the lows dropping to near 49.
The winds reverse and become more westerly on Saturday which means that even with the sunny skies, the marine air helps cap the high temperature at around 66, then with partly cloudy skies that night, lows drop to near 46.
Unfortunately, we see the pattern change on Sunday as the ridge moves east as a trough of low pressure moves towards our area. This will bring mostly cloudy skies Sunday with a slight chance of showers during the day, the high only near 56, the shower chance increases Sunday night, lows near 43.
The chance of showers continues on Monday as a low develops to the northwest and drifts southward, the high near 55. That chance does decrease some Monday night, lows near 42.
Tuesday the low will have drifted to the southwest towards northern California, so we only have a slight chance of showers still, the high near 58, lows near 44.
Warm Weather Safety
Since it has been a while, I thought I would remind you of some important safety tips for this first Spring warm spell.
- Remember to put on some sunscreen
- Wear the right clothing
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Do NOT leave your pets or your children in vehicles
- If you exercise or work outside, stay alert for heat stress and heat exhaustion
- Remember, though it is warm outside, the ocean and river water temperatures are still very cold and can cause you to quickly lose muscle control and drown
- Wear a life vest where appropriate.
