Welcome to the first day of summer, which is also the longest day of the year (nearly 16 hours), and right on cue we start to warm up, at least for the next few days. Today, the weather picture was that the large trough over the area was sliding eastward as a low pressure area develops to the south near the central California coast. We were left with a weaker trough of low pressure over the region that gave us a sunny, milder day.
Tonight, the marine layer and clouds are increasing, the surface winds becoming northerly 5-10, the low near 51.
We further warm up tomorrow, under mostly sunny skies, with the winds becoming northwesterly 5-10, the high near 72. The clouds return tomorrow night with the winds still northwesterly 5-10, lows near 53.
Friday the onshore flow and marine layer combine to cool things down some, so Friday is looking partly sunny with westerly winds 5-10, highs only near 64, in comes the clouds Friday night with decreasing winds, lows near 53.
It looks like the weekend will be fair, dry, and mild with Saturday looking mostly sunny with the high near 65, then a partly cloudy night, lows near 52. We see partly sunny skies on Sunday as a weak trough sets up over the area, the high near 66, some clouds return Sunday night, lows near 54.
As for next week, we remain under “troughy” conditions Monday and Tuesday that will provide us with partly sunny days along with a slight chance of showers, the highs near 65, and mostly cloudy nights, still with that slight chance of showers, lows near 55.
