Tillamook’s Sunday Report:
And for the last 24 hr rains, up towards Nehalem, at the Nehalem River near Foss – 1.43”, Tillamook – 1.19”, Lees Camp 1.20”. The last Atmosphere River (AR) lingered with its heavier rain more south with areas north and south of Florence getting between 2-3” of rain in the last 24 hours.
The Tillamook forecast for today is, well, yet another AR is moving in, bringing another round of moderate to occasionally heavy rain as the associated cold front moves across, this morning’s lighter rain is associated with the warm frontal portion pushing northward but the cold front part will bring the heavier rain. The winds with this next system are westerly 10-20 gusting to 30-40 with gusts 45-55 possible at the beaches. Rainfall totals today, plus or minus, one inch. The heavy rain periods could cause some Urban and Small Stream Flooding as outlined in the Flood Advisory valid through this evening.
The rain becomes more showery tonight, winds becoming more southerly 8-12 gusting to 20, rainfall totals not as big, between ¼” to ½”.
This will drive the rivers up further, then with another AR moving in Monday night, the odds are in favor of seeing some minor river flooding across the county. Add to this we likely see some higher winds associated with this one. The exact coastal location under the gun for this one is still not certain, but someone along the Coast Range could see upwards of 5” or more of rain with the Monday event giving them a major flood event. The models still vary on who this will be! My advice is to watch the forecasts and be ready, just in case! Things can change quicky in these events.
There is still a Flood Watch for much of the area, including all of Tillamook County, valid until Wednesday afternoon.
