Another morning of fog and stratus as the marine air got pushed in and thickened. We are also seeing the ridge that has dominated the pattern since last week, starting to get suppressed and pushed eastward by a low pressure trough and developing low pressure areas in the Pacific. This all spells more clouds for us today along with cooler temperatures. The marine push will be there again tonight and when combined with the trough of low pressure moving towards us as the ridge continues to drift eastward, we see an increasing chance of patchy drizzle later tonight into tomorrow morning. The trough will also bring some southerly winds 4-8 tonight after midnight with the low temperature down near 43.
So, tomorrow looks to start out cloudy with that patchy fog and drizzle, then some light rain likely by the afternoon as a disturbance moves in, the winds southerly 5-10, highs only up near 54. Cloudy and rainy tomorrow night, winds southerly 8-12, lows near 47.
Still rainy on Thursday, winds southerly 8-12, the high near 56, some more light rain in the area Thursday night that eases late, the winds remain southerly 8-12, lows near 46.
By Friday we are seeing a low pressure area off the coast deepening, and moving up the coast, so we transition from rain to scattered showers in the afternoon, the high near 58, still cloudy with some showers Friday night, lows near 54.
The low and trough continue to influence our weather over the weekend, leading to more showers, breezy at times, with highs around 53, and lows near 42. The models suggest some warm frontal rain returns by Sunday night into Monday.
It may be a little hard to see this week, but officially, the Spring Equinox occurs this evening, welcome to the first day of spring!
