A quick Tillamook Forecast: The summer pattern continues with cloudy/foggy mornings and mostly sunny afternoons with the northwesterly winds 5-10 each afternoon, thanks to the persistent high pressure ridge over the region. You will see an increased marine flow tomorrow night so there is a chance some light drizzle or mist will develop in the morning hours Sunday when the layer is the thickest. High temperatures today and tomorrow around 70, but leveling off around 63 Sunday with less afternoon clearing.
The summer pattern continues next week with the morning marine clouds and possible fog followed by some afternoon sun. This pattern remains thru Wednesday when a disturbance brings back a chance of showers. High temperature remain in the mid and upper 60s, nighttime lows around the mid and upper 40s.
Oh boy, a Strawberry Moon expected tonight, Friday June 21st!
Why is the full moon tonight, the first full day of summer, known as the “Strawberry Moon?” Well, because it’s peak season for harvesting strawberries with fresh strawberries now available at most area markets. It is kinda rare for a full a Moon to happen within a day of a solstice, usually only occurring once every 19 to 20 years, according to Space.com. But, don’t expect to see a bright red strawberry looking Moon tonight, though it could appear to be pink or reddish when it’s close to the horizon, and being the lowest full Moon of the year, according to Almanac.com. Just and FYI, today happens to also be the longer day of the year for us! the days slowly start to get shorter now.
