Well, happy Washington’s Birthday (Presidents Day) folks. Today, looking at the satellite picture, I see a complex weather mess out there off our coast. We have a couple of low pressure areas just off the coast of Oregon and California that are slowly making their way northward and rotating bands of rain up across the area. We see one band this morning from the first low pressure area, then we have a break as the second low from California continues to drift northward and as it slowly weakens. We see easterly winds today with this setup 5-10 gusting to 18. Then as more rain moves in later tonight from the second low pressure area, the winds easterly 5-10 with tonight’s low temperature around 45.
By tomorrow the California low pressure area is off the Oregon Coast and bringing more rain to our area along with some breezy southern winds 14-18 gusting to 25, the high near 56, still rainy tomorrow night, the winds southerly 10-15 gusting to 20, the lows near 46.
The low pressure area is still west of the Oregon/Washington coast Wednesday as it continues to weaken so we still see some rain through the evening hours when it starts to ease, the winds southerly 8-12 gusting to 18, highs near 53, mostly cloudy with a decreasing chance of rain Wednesday night, the winds becoming southeasterly 4-8, lows near 42.
It looks like things will dry out Thursday and Friday with highs warming to near 59 with partly sunny skies, then some mostly cloudy nights with lows near 41.
Friday is looking mostly sunny with the high up near 60, and with a mostly clear night, the low drops to near 40.
Saturday will start out nice with sunny skies, the high near 58, then it looks like we see the return of a trough off the coast with possible low pressure areas again moving towards the coast that will bring a chance of rain Saturday night with more rain likely by Sunday, the highs cooling to near 51 by Sunday, the lows still down around 40.
