Well, I’ve got my voice back, but now I have this sinus thing going on, so I still don’t sound “normal.” Other than that, I hope y’all are enjoying this spring weather with sunny days and mild temperatures like I have. And, I have good news, the forecast changes little this week with the next threat of precipitation not moving back in until maybe Sunday. The extended period of nice weather is thanks to a high pressure ridge that is slowly progressing to the east. Today the axis was over the top of us, which explains why the high temperatures peaked today in the low 70s for much of the area. The ridge will give us mostly clear skies tonight with northerly winds 4-8, the overnight low a little warmer than last night’s low of 37, tonight we only go down to near 43.
We see another mostly sunny day tomorrow, even though the ridge will have drifted to the east some, the winds becoming northerly 5-10 gusting to 20, not quite as warm tomorrow with the afternoon high near 63. Another mostly clear night, light northerly winds still, lows near 40.
It looks like a weak trough will move across to the north on Wednesday that does little to us, other than to give us a few clouds and makes things a little cooler. So, Wednesday we see mostly sunny skies with the winds northwesterly 5-10, highs only near 60, still a mostly clear night Wednesday, lows near 42.
Another ridge builds in again Thursday bringing us mostly sunny to sunny skies for Thursday and Friday with highs up near 67, then some mostly clear nights though the clouds do start to return Friday night, lows near 43.
The models show the ridge gets pushed eastward on Saturday, by another trough of low pressure dropping in from the northwest, so we see mostly sunny skies, the high only near 58, then some mostly cloudy skies Saturday night, lows near 42.
Sunday is looking partly sunny with a chance of showers from that approaching trough, the high near 54, lows near 40.
By the way, if your sinuses have been bothering you lately, well, the reason is the pollen count has been high, and the forecast is for it get even higher by the middle of next week. The top contributors are the Ash, Maple, and Birch tree pollen.
And that’s it for this week’s forecast folks, this is meteorologist Gordon McCraw hoping yall have a great week.
