By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
We had a disturbance move through yesterday, and this morning we had another one that gave us less than a tenth of an inch of rain in that 24 hour period. This all cleared up leaving us with a mostly sunny afternoon as a ridge of high pressure started building in. The ridge continues to build and with the partly cloudy skies tonight along with the calm winds, we see some radiational cooling once again, allowing the overnight temperatures to drop to near 39 in Tillamook, but low enough in the Coast Range and the inland protected valleys, that patchy frost is likely. This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Frost Advisory for the Coast Range, valid from midnight tonight through 9am tomorrow morning. This means that, for those areas, sensitive plants will need to be protected or brought indoors tonight.
Tomorrow starts out partly sunny, but will continue to improve with sunny skies likely for the afternoon. The winds become northwesterly 5-10 gusting to 18 in the afternoon, high temperatures up near 58. Another mostly clear night tomorrow night with light winds, the low down to near 38 which means some patchy frost is possible once again but with the light winds, those chances are not as good as tonight.
By Wednesday, the ridge is moving eastward over us which gives us sunny skies and northerly winds 5-10, the high up to near 63, another mostly clear night with light winds, the low only down to near 41.
We see another mostly sunny day with the high near 63 Thursday as the ridge weakens and continues to move east of the area. By Thursday night we have another trough of low pressure approaching that bring in some clouds along with a chance of showers by around midnight, low temperatures down around 44.
It looks like the trough gives us a good chance of showers on Friday, and the models suggest we keep the chance of showers in the forecast through the weekend, daytime highs in the mid 50s, nighttime lows in the low 40s.
So, there’s your week’s forecast Tillamook, just remember, April showers bring May flowers. Until later, this is Meteorologist Gordon McCraw saying, have a great week everyone.
