We had a weak and dying front bring less than one tenth of an inch of rain to the region this morning, then left us with a slight chance of a light shower or two the rest of the day. The cloudy and moist northwesterly flow will continue tonight and that could give someone another light shower or two that get pushed across the area in that flow. The winds tonight will be light, the low drops to near 56.
There is another weak system moving across tomorrow morning that brings another slight chance of a light morning shower, then a weak ridge moves across and brings improving conditions and a mostly sunny afternoon with westerly winds 4-8, and a high temperature of 65. We see a few clouds overnight tomorrow, diminishing winds, lows near 54.
Wednesday the building ridge continues to bring mostly sunny skies with the winds becoming northerly 5-10, and the high temperatures up near 72. Look for clear skies Wednesday night, calm winds, lows near 54.
By Thursday there will be a large high pressure area building over the southwest U.S. with its associated ridge building up into our area. This means nice weather for the coast along with sunny skies, the high near 75, with partly cloudy skies that night, lows near 56.
It looks like the ridge will persist Friday on through the weekend so continued sunny to mostly sunny skies, highs remain in the mid to low 70s, and with partly cloudy nighttime skies, lows in the mid 50s. These nice weather conditions may even persist into the start of next week. It does mean the valley will also be warming though, with afternoon highs in the low to mid 90s for this period.
A look at the 8-14 Day Outlook from the Climate Prediction Center that was issued yesterday (7/28/24) for the period of August 5th through the 11th offers an above average probability of above normal temperatures, and a near normal probability of precipitation.
