Jan Boal is a woman of many talents and profound experiences. With 25 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse, she has spent a significant part of her life caring for others. However, her journey extends far beyond the confines of traditional medicine. Boal is also the founder of Positive Vibes Holistic Coaching, an author, a shamanic practitioner, and remarkably, an honorary Maasai warrior. In this interview, Boal shares her transformative adventures, her approach to holistic healing, and insights from her book, “Safari for the Soul.”
Boal’s journey is marked by extraordinary spiritual signs that have guided her path. She recalls a pivotal moment when she felt an overwhelming urge to travel the world.
“I literally hear a voice in the back of my car that says, ‘Oh, you could travel the world, Jan.'”
Initially taken aback, she asked the universe for a sign. Soon after, she received a secret Santa gift—a calendar titled “passport to the world.” Boal took this as the confirmation she needed.
In “Safari for the Soul,” Boal recounts her travels and spiritual experiences with endangered animals. Her encounters include studying jaguars in Brazil, dolphins in the Mediterranean, and black rhinos in Kenya. Each chapter offers a spiritual exploration of these animals and their cultural significance.
“I also describe what that endangered animal represents spiritually and how the village affects that animal.”
Boal’s journey has not been without peril. One of the most harrowing experiences she recounts is a lioness attack in Kenya.
“I see this lion jump out from behind a tree and attack my work partner Kathy.”
The traumatic event left a lasting impact, triggering post-traumatic stress upon her return home.
“I didn’t like the sound of even my dog hitting the paws on the ground running. That would kind of set me off a little bit.”
Through her holistic coaching practice, Boal helps others overcome fear and embrace courage.
“What I’ve gotten back from people was how they learned from my book how to be courageous, how to not live in fear.”
Her approach incorporates mind, body, spirit, energy, and environment, providing a comprehensive path to healing and empowerment.
Boal’s bravery during the lion encounter earned her a rare and prestigious honor. She was recognized by the Maasai community as an honorary Maasai warrior.
“The chief can’t imagine a woman so brave. And he wants to meet you.”
During a special ceremony, the Maasai warriors performed a dance around her and bestowed upon her a beautiful necklace made by the chief’s wife.
“They put this beautiful necklace that the chief’s wife had made, and then the other warriors did a dance around me.”
Boal continues to inspire others through her speaking events and workshops. Her upcoming events, titled “Live the Life You Desire,” will take place at the Kiwanda Community Center in Pacific City and the Tillamook Library.
“The speaking event is free and it’s called ‘Live the Life You Desire.'”
These events are based on her five-step blueprint for living a fulfilling life, which she has perfected over the past 20 years.
For those interested in her book, “Safari for the Soul” is available on Amazon and directly through her website, janboal.com, where she offers signed copies.
“If you want to order through me, I will give you a signed copy and I’ll mail it to you.”
Boal’s Positive Vibes Virtual Meetup Group continues to grow, meeting every Sunday to focus on gratitude and positive intentions.
“This is held…we’re still meeting on Sundays. And all this is about is stating a gratitude.”
She dreams of expanding this group to a national level, if not global.
“My dream of mine is to have the Positive Vibes Virtual Group go…global would be nice but I’ll be happy with the US, or Oregon.”
Jan Boal’s journey is a testament to the power of courage, spirituality, and holistic healing. Her experiences and teachings offer invaluable insights into overcoming fear and embracing life’s adventures. Readers are encouraged to attend her events, read “Safari for the Soul,” and join the Positive Vibes community to begin their own journey of transformation.
