KaSandra Larson, a lifelong resident and the current chief deputy assessor and tax collector for Tillamook County, is running for the role of County Assessor with a campaign deeply rooted in community ties and extensive professional experience.
A fourth-generation resident of Tillamook, Larson has a rich local lineage that includes a great-grandfather who emigrated from Sweden in the 1920s and laid much of the city’s foundational concrete work. She describes her family’s long-standing presence as a core part of her identity and dedication to the county. “I am very proud of that fact. You know, four generations go back a ways,” Larson stated, emphasizing the significance of her deep community ties.
Larson’s professional journey in county services began right out of college, quickly advancing from an entry-level role to a position of leadership. Reflecting on her career progression.
Larson shared, “I started at tax time answering the phones, so I’ve really seen the department from the ground up.”
Over the years, Larson has gained comprehensive experience in both appraisal and tax collection, crucial areas that she would oversee as assessor.
If elected, Larson is committed to applying her extensive appraisal and tax collection experience to enhance the efficiency and fairness of the tax system. She aims to ensure that tax assessments are “supportable and defendable,” ready to stand up in tax court if necessary.
“There’s a term I like to use in my wor: ik is what we’re doing supportable and defendable? Can you go to tax court with it and support it and defend it?” Larson explained.
With a keen focus on fiscal prudence, Larson has spearheaded initiatives to streamline operations and incorporate technological improvements to reduce costs and increase service effectiveness. She highlighted the importance of being financially responsible, not just for the department but for the county’s taxpayers as well.

“I’m in the community, invested. You can trust me to do the right job, to make the right decisions,” Larson passionately stated, calling on her fellow residents for their support in the upcoming election.
