Ken Boddie, a four decade-long fixture of Portland’s KOIN 6 TV, will be on the north coast later this month to serve as MC of a community celebration and fundrasier for the new Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy.
The Sunday, June 23 event at the NCRD Performing Arts Center in Nehalem will feature the national and international blues recording artist Rick Estrin and his band The Night Cats. Tickets are available at Ticket Tomato: https://www.tickettomato.com/event/8701/rickestrin-amp-the-nightcats
“Ken is a big blues and jazz fan and has long supported the annual Waterfront Blues Festival and the Portland Jazz Festival,” said Rich Silverman of the North Coast Music Project who is producing the NCRD show. “It’s a natural for us to have him MC this great community event. And we are delighted he is able to be part of the event.”
Boddie recently relinquished his role as co-anchor of “KOIN 6 News This Morning” to accept a promotion to serve as the station’s political director. His distinguished journalism career includes a regional EMMY Award for his role anchoring “Eye on Northwest Politics.”
All proceeds from the concert will directly benefit the new Health Center and Pharmacy.
The event will also involve early peeks at various elements of the new facility, special guests and announcements, including the official groundbreaking on the 16,000 square foot Health Center.
