Manzanita Mayor Mike Scott announced at the July City Council meeting that he is running for a second two year term as Mayor.
Much has been accomplished in his first term including reopening of the golf course, completion of the Carmel project, and the City’s purchase of the Underhill Plaza property.
Scott wants to continue to work with the community to get a plan approved, financing in place, and construction under way in the next two years on a new City Hall, Police Station, and Emergency Command Center at the Underhill Plaza location.
He is also pursuing identification and prosecution of short term renter violators in an effort to enforce the 17.5% cap on licenses. The city is trying to maintain our neighborhoods and our sense of community. Mayor Scott will be chairing a forum on short term rentals at this year’s Oregon Mayor’s Conference.
If elected he looks forward to working with the new city manager who will be appointed later this year.
Mike and his wife Phyllis have owned property in Manzanita since 1990 and have been full time residents since 2004. He has previously served on the City Council, the Planning Commission and is a past President of the Rinehart Clinic board.
