We continue to see a strong ridge of high pressure to our east with a trough of low pressure anchored off to our west. This basically means, a continued onshore flow that pushes in the marine layer at night which burns back to, or near the coast each day. So, having said this, the clouds and patchy fog returns tonight after the winds die down, the low near 50.
The upper level winds become more southerly tomorrow so the clouds burn back midmorning with the surface winds become more northwesterly, only increasing to 5-10 late morning, and with this decreased onshore flow, the afternoon temperatures increase to around 78. Of course, this also means the Coast Range is looking at temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s and the valley is looking at the mid to upper 90s. By tomorrow night, a weak low pressure area that was meandering off of California appears to drift northward then move into the Oregon Coast and this would push in some clouds and bring a slight chance of some showers and possible even a thunderstorm after around midnight, light winds, lows near 53.
The slight shower and thunderstorm threat continues into the morning hours Wednesday, the winds becoming southwesterly 4-8 with partly sunny skies, and thanks to the weakening low, the highs only get near 66. Things return to the normal summer pattern Wednesday night as the marine later returns, calm winds, lows near 51.
The ridge starts to build back towards the area Thursday, but we still see a partly sunny day with slightly warmer temperatures, the high up to bear 69, the marine clouds return Thursday night, lows near 53.
Friday on through the weekend is looking nice, mostly sunny afternoon skies with high temperatures in the low 70s, the clouds keep returning at night, lows near 53.
