The Neah-Kah-Nie Future Natural Resources Leaders (FNRL) team toppled many 4A and 5A schools to place 3rd in last Saturday’s forestry event at Sweet Home. Three years ago, NKN took 12th place, last year it was 8th and this year it was third. Big point contributors were:
Emmanuel Hardy, 6th place plant ID., 2nd place animal ID
Aiden Kallas: 2nd place prepared speech, 5th place timber cruising, 5th place Plant ID.
Nick Jones: 3rd place in power buck, 3rd place in compass and pacing, 1st place in Timber cruising.
Ryder Alm: 3rd place choker set, 2nd place pole climb.
Ansel Albrechtsen: 3rd place in plant ID., 3rd place in compass and pacing, 3rd place timber cruising, , and 1st place in ax throw.
The above 5 also took 3rd in a team event called hose lay, an event that takes firefighting skills.
