NKN Robotics Team Undecided is in 5th place in the Silicon Forest League, the 14th ranked team in the State of Oregon, and earned our highest score of 258 at Saturdays Meet 3. The competition was fierce with other teams on Saturday earning the fifth highest score in the world (359 points!)- several of the teams in our league are currently ranked in the top ten in the world.
With only one month to prepare for the qualifying tournament – the team is running hard to refine their programming, prepare a presentation, and develop an engineering portfolio for the qualifying tournament on Saturday, February 1st at Hillsboro High School.
The team has been quite focused on designing a new robot for qualifying, and that may have impacted our preparation for this tournament. We lost more rounds this meet than Meet 1 and Meet 2 combined.
The new robot will have a brand new intake – called the Shai-Hulud for the sandworms in Dune. Lilly (the creator of the intake) brought it to show to the lead inspector to make sure that it would pass inspection, and the inspector was absolutely blown away by the intake and even brought other people over to our table to show it off during the day. The project is quite ambitious – and it will be an amazing feat if we manage to pull it off…
We were pleased to have our superintendent Dr. Tyler Reed visit and cheer on the team. Thank you Dr. Reed for taking our picture, and spending time with us on Saturday.
We are so thankful to our sponsors: Eugene Schmuck Foundation, Mudd Nick Foundation, NWRESD STEMHub, and the Tillamook County Creamery for making it possible to compete at a high level with the best teams in the State. GO PIRATES!!
