There are a myriad of year-end graduations, presentations and award ceremonies. One such monumental announcement at Neah-Kah-Nie Middle School is recognition as “citizen of the year.” Each month faculty select two “citizens of the month” for each grade; then, at the end of the year, two individuals from each class receive a special award. The names of the Citizens of the Year are inscribed on a plaque at the school.
According to Principal Lori Dilbeck, these are the qualities we look for in our citizens of the year:

Honest – tell the truth

Moral courage – stand-up for what you consider to be wrong and defend those who cannot defend themselves

Responsible -be accountable for yourself and your actions

Respectful – treat others how you want to be treated
