In just a couple weeks it will be 6 months since I started work at the Tillamook SBDC. The time has flown by. I’m thankful for the wonderful people I’ve met and for the chance to serve the businesses in the county. I’m also thankful spring has arrived with warmer temperatures, beautiful flowers and longer days. I feel like the SBDC is making good progress on our goals for 2018. So far this year the Tillamook SBDC team has advised 72 business clients and trained 46 participants in workshops and classes.
Remember free, confidential one-on-one advising times are now available in north county and south county by appointment. The next available appointments in north county are Tuesday, May 22nd and June 12th. The next available appointments in south county are Wednesday, May 16th and Tuesday, June 5th.
The Lower Columbia Human Resource Management Association (LCHRMA) will be offering a class entitled “Recruiting and Retaining Successful Employees” in Tillamook on May 23rd from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Location: Port of Tillamook Bay, 4000 Blimp Blvd. More information and registration is available at www.lchrma.org.
SAVE THE DATE! June 13th the Tillamook SBDC will be hosting the Governor’s Marketplace. Tap Into Billions of Dollars in Public Contracting Opportunities the Governor’s Office leads the way to show you how. There are billions of dollars of public contracting opportunities in Oregon, each of which offers opportunities for local small businesses in communities throughout the state. The Governor’s Marketplace Statewide Editions, partnered with Business Oregon, Department of Administrative Services and Secretary of State, break down barriers to public contracting and help connect small businesses to an array of resources, tools, and networking opportunities to make public contracting more accessible. These events are free to all attendees. Contractors licensed with the CCB can receive up to four hours of continuing education credit for learning about public contracting. Space is limited. Register for this event at https://2018gmp_tillamookbaycc.eventbrite.com/. The event will take place from 7:00 am – 1:00 pm at the PRI building, 4506 3rd St., Tillamook.
Want to be more prepared for the June 13th Governor’s Marketplace? Join us on May 23rd noon – 1:00 pm for a brown bag lunch to learn more about being prepared to take advantage of government contracting opportunities. Bring your own lunch. We’ll have an informal discussion of what information is needed to register for ORPIN (Oregon Procurement Information Network), your pathway to state government contract opportunities.
