The popular North Tillamook Library Friends (NTLF) Book Sale returns to Manzanita on Memorial Weekend with more than 6,000 gently used books, including fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books.
The sale starts Friday, May 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., for current members of the NTLF, and opens to the public on Saturday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If you are not a current member of NTLF, you may join at the North Tillamook Library in Manzanita or online at https://www.northtillamooklibrary.org/become-a-member. You may also become a member in person at the sale.
The book sale happens in three locations on Laneda Avenue in Manzanita: Fiction and children’s books will be at the Pine Grove Community House; non-fiction will be at the Hoffman Center for the Arts and at the Fellowship Hall of the Calvary Bible Church.
Children’s books sell for $.25 to $1. All other books range from $1 to $7 depending on whether they are hard cover or soft cover.
A beloved community event, the annual book sale has been going for nearly 20 years, says Organizer Madeline Olson who has been involved for the past 15 years. Book donations are accepted throughout the year, sorted by volunteers, and stored until it’s time for the sale. More recently, the Friends have offered books for sale year-round at the Manzanita branch of the Tillamook County Library.
Proceeds from the annual book sale support the Friends’ ongoing maintenance of the library building and grounds, ensuring the library facility can continue to serve Wheeler, Nehalem, Manzanita, our rural communities, and visitors to the area far into the future.
