WHEELER—The Oregon Department of Transportation will be closing OR 53 (Necanicum Highway) for one day on Thursday, April 20 so crews can repair the road that was damaged by a landslide earlier this winter. The road will be closed at milepost 11.4 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.
OR 53 is an almost 20-mile long road that connects U.S. 101 at Wheeler to U.S. 26. The repairs will make it easier to maintain the road until another more elaborate temporary fix can be designed.
Travelers will detour around the closure using U.S. 101 and U.S. 26 depending on which side of the closure they want to access.
