I am gratified that the Manzanita City Council will revisit the topic of Short-Term Rentals (STRs) at its regular meeting tonight, Wednesday April 6th, and, hopefully, approve the freeze they talked about last month. But that’s just the beginning of what needs to be done – and I’m concerned that the council lacks the urgency required to address this issue.
At its March meeting, the Council discussed forming a second STR work group to study the issue, for up to three years, and make recommendations back to the Council. This second STR work group would look at issues not in scope for the first STR work group, which completed its work last year. And we’ve yet to see their recommendations fully implemented.
I’m not sure about you, but as a long-time resident of Manzanita, I don’t want to wait another three years for solutions.
