Thank you to everyone who helped us safely and quickly remove the 50-foot piece of concrete that was hanging off the Necarney Creek Bridge.
The 36-hour emergency closure was required because the crane used to remove the concrete piece was too large and heavy for other traffic to be on the bridge at the same time.
What to expect next:
U.S. 101 is back to a single lane closure with flaggers helping direct traffic 24/7. Now that the concrete has been removed, our contractor can move forward with the rest of the repair work.
We plan to start as soon as next week and expect the emergency repairs to take about three weeks to complete. Flaggers helping direct traffic through the single open lane will continue until we’ve finished these repairs.
Our schedule may change, we encourage all travelers to use caution, plan ahead and to visit TripCheck.com first to get real-time updates on traffic and impacts. |

Background
The Necarney Creek Bridge was built in 1937 and the section that collapsed was part of the original concrete sidewalk and guardrail.

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not. |
