We’ve started work to replace the U.S. 26 Little Humbug Creek Bridge. We’re completing the work in two stages.
The first stage is setting the new bridge foundation. This work involves machines pounding supports into the ground for the new bridge.
During this stage, you can expect:
- A 24-hour single lane closure for about five working days per lane – a total of 10 days.
- Barriers to help define the 14-feet wide open single lane. Vehicles wider than 12-feet will need to avoid traveling through this area during the restricted days and hours or use an alternate route.
- Crews working 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Noise, delays and flaggers helping direct traffic.
We expect to complete this stage by June 30.
We don’t plan on doing any work on the bridge in July and August that would impact traffic. We expect to start work on the second stage after Labor Day in September. The second stage includes replacing the bridge one lane at time and will require a 24-hour single lane closure for 24 days.
Our schedule may change – visit the project webpage to learn more about what we’re doing or TripCheck.com for the most up to date information on impacts. |
U.S. 26 Little Humbug Creek Bridge
About the project
The Little Humbug Bridge is along U.S. 26 and is more than 60 years old. This is an important highway connecting the coast to the Portland metro area. The bridge foundation is in poor condition and needs to be replaced.
We’re installing bridge supports in April and will remove and rebuild the bridge one direction at a time starting in September. This will help minimize traffic impacts during the summer. |

Pay attention in work zones, slow down and move over – imagine this is where you work! Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers.
Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not. |
