REMINDER – 7th Street will be closed from April 8th to April 19th. As part of the Hwy 101 ODOT project, Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad will be upgrading the railroad crossings to improve pedestrian and ADA safety. Use 3rd Street to access port businesses.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this time.
In addition, the rock deliveries will be starting soon as well.
Here’s an update on the South Jetty project from Matthew Craig, Project Manager for Tillamook South Jetty Repairs:
Following up on the previous message below, we anticipate that stone will start being delivered by truck to the stone barge loading site at the Port of Garibaldi within 2 to 3 weeks.
(Previous update from March 15, 2024)
The contractor has completed much of the site preparation work and may start delivering stone for the repairs within the next couple of months. We also expect the contractor will be constructing their temporary Material Offloading Facility (stone receiving area at Kincheloe Point) within this time frame.
The contractor requested and has come to an agreement with the Port of Garibaldi to use some of the Port’s property to function as a stone barge loading site. The contractor will deliver the stone by truck to the Port, then barge it across Tillamook Bay to Kincheloe Point on Bayocean Spit. From there, the stone will be delivered to a staging area and ultimately placed at the jetty. Due to the condition and limitations of Bayocean Road and Bayocean Dike road, the contract did not allow the contractor to deliver the stone directly to the project site by truck. As a result, we anticipated that the contractor would deliver the stone directly to Kincheloe Point by ocean-going barge. With the contractor utilizing a local stone barge loading site at the Port, we anticipate that trucks will be delivering the stone from sources from the north and south via Highway 101 to the Port of Garibaldi.
