What a memorable way to launch into the holiday season! Rockway Beach does it right as Santa arrived for the Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday November 24th riding a train car pulled by a historic steam locomotive courtesy of the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. A tradition in the small, coastal town, the tree lighting party kicks off the Christmas Season in Oregon Coast style.
The Christmas Tree Lighting has been visibly growing by leaps and bounds post-covid. 600 cups of free hot chocolate were served with cookies. The kids painted 200 sand dollars and over 50 ornaments. Santa was greeted by cries of “Santa” and a long line of kids anxious for a few words. It was another big success.
Thank you to the City of Rockaway Beach and Rockaway Beach Business Association.
