Last night, November 11, 2024 about 9:30 pm a small tornado(now rated as an EF0) ripped through Rockaway Beach. Tillamook County Sheriff Deputy Sean Ahlers patrolled the area the morning of November 12th and took a few photographs.
“I have not heard of any significant injuries but there’s plenty of property damage,” said Deputy Ahlers. “The Neahkanie School District adminstration buildings were hit hard, though does not sound like there is any impact to school operations.”
Tillamook County Emergency Manager Randy Thorpe reported during the community call on KTIL this morning that it appears it was a water spout that made landfall near the Wayside, and caused property damage across several blocks from Nehalem to 3rd Avenue before dissipating. If anyone has any video footage of the tornado, please contact Randy Thorpe, Tillamook County Emergency Manager by calling 503-842-3412.
