SEASIDE, Ore. – April 24, 2023 – On Monday, April 24, the Seaside Police Department apprehended an individual who, moments earlier, had fled from Oregon State Police at a high rate of speed while traveling westbound on Highway 26. OSP reported the vehicle traveling as fast as 107 mph.
The vehicle, a red 2017 Chevy Camaro displaying Oregon license plates featuring the Portland Trail Blazers, was pursued beginning at 10:38 a.m. as it entered Seaside headed North on S. Roosevelt Drive (Hwy 101). SPD officers observed the vehicle passing unsafely, operating in the middle lane, and driving at speeds over 80 mph before crashing into an unoccupied vehicle parked near Avenue F.
The male driver ran from the scene on foot and was taken into custody at 10:43 a.m. He was transported to Providence Seaside Hospital initially, cleared and taken to Clatsop County Jail.
