MANZANITA, Ore. – The tradition continues for Big Wave Café owner Brian Williams to select local nonprofits that have missions to benefit community members in North Tillamook County, and host a spaghetti dinner to benefit that organization. “It’s important for us to give back to this community. We have such an amazing array of charities here,” said Chef Williams. “I could just make donations, but these events are about the community and good food, an opportunity for us to come together, enjoy a meal and benefit a deserving organization,” he continued. “100% of the proceeds from the dinner go to the organization.” Join the Eugene Schmuck Foundation on Thursday January 17th for a spaghetti dinner at the Big Wave Café in Manzanita. The menu includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert with coffee or soft drink, for $15.00. Tickets are available in advance on the ESF’s newly updated website – www.eugeneschmuckfoundation.org, from an ESF board member, or at the door. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. The special dinner is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. and dinners are tax-deductible. There will also be opportunities to win some special raffle prizes as well.
The Eugene Schmuck Foundation (ESF), a non-profit organization dedicated to serving charities in North Tillamook County. ESF has provided over $1.3 million in funding and scholarships for over 25 years with proceeds from the Manzanita Open golf tournament, to be held May 17, 18 and 19.
The Big Wave Cafe in Manzanita is a restaurant with a purpose – to provide really good service, really good food, to support and give back to the community, which includes donations and fundraisers for select nonprofits each year. The Big Wave makes a practice of supporting the community year-round by employing up to 30 people, all local residents, and sourcing as many of its food items as possible from Tillamook County, said Williams. “It costs more to buy from our local farmers, ranchers and fisherman, but it provides a better product and keeps money in our county.”
It’s in the spirit of continuing to support the local economy and community the Big Wave Café also donates gift certificates to the U.S. Coast Guard Station Tillamook Bay Guardsman and Guardswoman for the unit’s annual holiday party. “The Coast Guard’s active personnel keep our commercial fishing fleets and sports fishermen safe year-round,” said Williams, who enjoys sports fishing himself. “This is a way for us to say ‘thank you.’”
Join ESF at the Big Wave Café on Thursday January 17th for dinner and raffle prizes, too. There will be several raffles, with tickets available at the event for $5.00 each, or 5 tickets for $20.00. You do NOT have to be present to win!

“Please join us in supporting these great local organizations that help make this the best place in the world to call home. We feel so lucky and blessed to be part of such a special place, and it’s a part of our philosophy about the sense of community and our responsibility to give back whenever possible,” said Chef/Owner Brian Williams, who owns the business with his wife Carol. Their son, Sam Williams, is the restaurant manager.
