As reported last week, the County Commissioners followed through on their intent to extend the “pause” in accepting short term rental license applications for 60 days, until August 31, 2023. The move was prompted by a delay in finalizing the new STR rules and, consequently, in commencing the staff work necessary to implement them.
In an unexpected move, the Commissioners temporarily reopened applications for STR licenses by “owners of the dwellings that were under construction pursuant to a valid building permit issued on or before July 1, 2022, and that are lawfully occupied pursuant to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy as of June 21, 2023.” The County will physically accept written requests from such property owners until 4:00pm on July 12, 2023, and place them on a waiting list for processing after the new rules are adopted.
The Board will resume the STR rules hearings to receive public comment and resume its deliberations on July 6 at 5:30 in the Port of Tillamook Bay offices. Here is a link for further details. https://www.co.tillamook.or.us/commdev/page/short-term-rental-advisory-committee
Fire Chief Tim Carpenter asked us to pass along this announcement:
A reminder to the residents of Netarts and Oceanside: Open burning of all debris piles and the use of burn barrels will close on July 15th. Backyard and beach warming fires will be allowed until further notice and will be weather dependent. Backyard and beach warming fires guidelines can be found on our website netartsoceansidefire.org, Burn permits are required for all open burning in the fire district and can be obtained at the fire district office in Netarts. All burning is closed during East wind events and red flag warnings.

Water and Sanitary Districts Announce Rate Hikes
This week, the Oceanside Water District and Netarts-Oceanside Sanitary District each announced a $5 per month increase in their monthly fees for the 2023-2024 fiscal year commencing July 1. The new Water District rate is $70 per month (a 7.7% hike), and the new Sanitary rate is $80 per month (a 6.25% hike).
