By Jerry Keene, Editor, The Oceansider
When Oceansiders brainstormed community projects at workshops early last year, some raised the longstanding interest in customized community entry signs at our north and south boundaries. Oceanside resident Kris Woolpert followed up by assembling a volunteer team to solicit designs from Oceanside‘s artists and explore funding through the Tillamook Coast Visitors’ Association Wayfinding Program.
Oceanside‘s artists responded to the team’s invitation (previously published in The Oceansider) by submitting 12 designs. Woolpert’s team then narrowed them to three top choices utilizing a “blind” process that concealed the artists’ names. (The names will be announced after the selection process is complete). The group that selected the three finalists included Kris Woolpert (Chair), Jim Moran, Cathy Hendrix, Sally Tuttle, Andrew Roberts, Pam Zielinski, Bruce Jaeger and Nan Devlin. Among other criteria, the team looked for a “realistic representation” of the Oceanside area, “strong graphics” and “clearly defined lettering.” This week, Woolpert contacted community groups with a request to announce the finalists and inform the community how to vote on their favorites (see below).
Below you will find the three finalist designs and a link to a ballot where you can cast a vote for your favorite. Voting will be held open through March 8. For those without internet, the Team will post info at the Community Hall on how to vote by telephone. This info is going out to several mailing lists, so please only vote once per person.
